Ladies' Choice
This show was co-curated by 19 talented artists, who each chose one artist to exhibit with, making it the ladies’ choice.

Since 1998 the month of September has been invitational time here at the Bradford Brinton Memorial & Museum. For 2007 I wanted to give our invitational show a different twist and also allow for some new artistic blood to be included in the invitational; hence, the idea for our Ladies' Choice invitational was born. An exhibition featuring the works of women artists in a show where the invited artists, in addition to exhibiting, are asked to curate part of the show by inviting a male artist whose work they admire to exhibit with them. Thinking up the show was the easy part, the truly difficult part was selecting the women artists to participate when you have the space constraints presented by our facility. As in any such show a few artists were too booked to participate on such short notice (believe me, a year in the art world is short notice) but I am quite pleased with our chosen artists, and I want to compliment them on the admirable job they did by curating their portion of the show.
By allowing these selected artists free reign to choose any male artist to show with them, we opened the door to artists whose work we might otherwise have overlooked. I believe this gives the show a much fresher view than if the exhibition committee and I had selected all of the participating artists. By reading the statements provided by our co-curators, we are able to glean added insight into their artistic views and a better understanding of their co-exhibitors.
